Having A Swell Time

The ship was all over the shop this morning, and Raj was off this afternoon as had been feeling seasick all day.  Gave him an anti-emetic this morning, but he still seemed to look the same.   I seem to be unaffected so glad about that.

We had 7m swell and the ship was only making about 4 knots, so they had to hand steer for hours on the bridge.  It was quite fun eating breakfast!

Once we got over the rough stuff and went above 6 knots the autopilot could be used again (normal speed is about 10- 11 knots).  All the while, myself and the motorman were outside taking apart the emergency generator ventilation system.  Although difficult to work with such inclines from the ship rolling, it was pretty nice and almost sunny!

We’re headed to Gijon, and should arrive at 10pm.  Unfortunately, for me, we have to take on 125 tonnes of heavy fuel oil when we get there.  So, I don’t expect I’ll sleep early tonight!

Tonight Arrived...

It's 1am, and we've just finished taking on 125 tonnes of HFO.  Now we are leaving for Bayonne, France.  Gladly, I don't have to start work at 8am tomorrow morning, but 10am instead.
